March is Women’s History Month, and each week we will be highlighting an Italian or Italian American woman for #ItalianoftheWeek.
Carla Gugino, whose father was Italian, was born on August 29, 1971, in Sarasota, Florida. She spent her childhood between California and Florida. When she was 15 and living in San Diego, she decided to try her hand at a modeling career. While successful, Carla became disillusioned with the lifestyle. A year later, she moved to New York City and opted to become an actress.
In 1988, Carla made her television debut in an episode of Who’s the Boss, and, a year later, debuted on the big screen in the comedy Troop Beverly Hills. Since then Carla has starred in projects spanning all genres in television, film and on stage. Most recently, her roles include Political Animals, New Girl, Wayward Pines, San Andreas and the newly released Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
